Warner Brox and Hasbro team up to shoot a new film adapted from the “Dungeons & Dragons” license. The dice have not finished rolling for the "Dungeon & Dragons" license.

After three very critical failures of the latest adaptations in films and television films, "Dungeons & Dragons" will make its return to the big screen according to the American newspaper "Entertainment Weekly". The legal battle was fierce for Warner to recover the exploitation rights from the Hasbro company, holder of the license rights.

However, an agreement could be signed between the two parties, which put an end to the ongoing trial since September. Also according to the magazine, the script was entrusted to David Leslie Johnson (" The Wrath of the Titans ", " Esther " or even "Conjuring 2"). Several films? It could even be a series of films since the two parties opted for a franchise. "" Dungeons and Dragons "allows limitless creativity, giving our directors immense opportunities to delight both fans and moviegoers who are unfamiliar with this universe," said Greg Silverman, vice president of creative development and of the global production of Warner Bros. Some details Stephen Davis, Hasbro vice president, said the film was going to "Bring the rich world of" Forgotten Realms "back to life."

The Forgotten Realms being one of the most popular "worlds" in the world of "Dungeons & Dragons", Warner takes little risk because this "world" has been the subject of more than thirty novels since the mid 90s. A statement that could be a way to reassure fans, disappointed by the latest adaptations to the cinema (considered a total heresy towards the world of the game). For Warner, appropriating the exploitation rights of one of the sacred monsters of the fantastic universe also makes it possible to fill the void that has imposed itself since the end of the “Hobbit” trilogy in December 2014.
Content of the book Equipment Box containing two stapled softcover booklets of 64 pages (rules) and 28 pages (module), and a set of dice: d4, d6, d10, d12, and d20. Description After table of contents, title page and preface by Tom Moldvay, an introduction presents the outline of the manual, and announces the Expert and Companion boxes .
The principles of the game are explained, as well as the terms used, like "oubliette" or "niveau". A second part shifts directly to the various stages of character creation, then the following pages are respectively devoted to giving the various modifiers, to describing the classes of characters, the alignments, the equipment, and other ele
ments. The following describes the magic system and lists the available spells: eight first level for Clerics, twelve first level and twelve second level for magicians and elves. In order for the MD to create NPCs, the rules are given for characters from level 4 to 6, with 3 examples of spells for the levels concerned (second of Cleric, third of Magician / Elf).

The next chapter, called "The Adventure", gives advice to players, and various rules: movement, light, opening doors, servant management, traps, wandering monsters, experience. The chapter "Meeting" is mainly dedicated to the management of fights, and it is naturally followed by the catalog of monsters: from the killer bee to the zombie. The next part is logically devoted to treasures, with various tables and lists of objects.
The last chapter includes advice and game aids for the MD: random traps, tables of wandering monsters ... An example of a dungeon built with these tables is given: "Le Château Fort Hanté", accompanied by an extract from part. Finally, various general advice is given on the art of MD. The book ends with a precise glossary and an index of the book, and the last cover page is a photocopiable character sheet (on a red background). This version of the basic box was used from the eighth to the eleventh impression of the game, from 1981 to 1982. It was accompanied by the module B2 - Le Château-Fort aux Confins du Pays .
According to the interlocutors, this magenta box can be nicknamed "second revised edition" or "third edition"; the red box then being called "third edition" or "fourth edition". It is this box that was officially translated for the first time into French (in a red box). Certain terminologies created on the occasion were not unanimous and were changed as of the second French impression, translation of the twelfth American impression . Thus, the game was called "Dungeons and Dragons", the little people (halflings) were called "Tinigens", the Loyal alignment was called "Just", the dungeons were "dungeons", Charisma was the "Character" (in some pages of the book) ...
